History belongs to those with high ideals, who have cherished them as dreams in their minds. Those dreams are inherent motives to make some people capable of bringing about great changes and transformations in the world. I am sure that the people who are giving shape to the history of the world are the same persons who had strong desires for humanitarian ideas in their youth, which has often formed their personalities, careers, life styles that have even marked their fate.
Humans are vested with wonderful qualities of which they are not usually aware of. But they can often discover such potentials and succeed in deploying them. However, no one should think that they have achieved their goals to the fullest or feel completely convinced of what they are able to do; rather, they should prepare themselves for the activities required for the undertaking. If someone stops moving ahead, they will remain stagnant and may become paralyzed, too. Therefore, one should have their potentials fortified as much as possible and get their latent talents awakened with firm determination as far as possible.
The second step forward is sharing your acquired knowledge with others because intellectual and material egotism are both reproachable and blameworthy; while, the main criterion is altruism and caring about happiness of others that counts very much. As soon as you start striving for other other’s welfare, the life will feel more valuable, the environment warmer and the world will look a better place to live in.
I have always tried to act with a philosophy of life whose base is serving humanity and convenience of others. In my belief, the “innovation” has constantly fulfilled an outstanding function throughout history. It begins with an inventive person’s will and determination to introduce a new concept and an original thought to the situation and, then, put an end to the ordinary current procedures or common routines. I have always emphasized the importance of creativity, since creative minds have been pioneers ando have gone forward in time to start a glorious chapter in their country’s history continually, time after time.
Another thing worth mentioning is that everyone ought to become specialized in the jobs they do to be experts irrespective of the field. If they do not know how to deal with the affairs, it suffices them at least to overwhelm themselves in the work they do. Insight, perception knowledge and intuition come to the people who have entirely devoted themselves to their vocations.
The requisite for a society to advance is challenging and tackling adversities, because those who venture to enter a challenge, will be successful. It is mostly the youths who like to meet a challenge of new events; they do not fear the defeat. The people who dread to approach a business have idled away their days of youth. So, we starve in the burning fire of accomplishing important plans, move forward in the direction toward the utmost promotion; struggle to reach the lofty summit of the great ideals to satisfy our needs in their absolute perfection.
We should devote ourselves to this aim because history progresses with devotion. It is true that one generation sacrifices itself for the next generation, but the subsequent generation must not give up its endeavor either. In my opinion, growth and development originate from continual learning. Just at the moment when you feel that your learning has finished, your growth will stop. Growth and development must go both along with the individuals’ humility and modesty, and their endeavor for learning. The more a tree is fruit-laden, the more submissive it becomes.
But what was the incentive of the scientists for more and more acquisition of human knowledge in different grounds to step into each of them in spite of so much trouble and hardship in order to research and express new ideas, to present innovations or to take initiative in preparing the factors that may finally serve as motor force for human culture and civilization to proceed faster? In other words, which intellectual power has it been to lead these great persons to strive so hard, at the price of so much hardship in their living conditions, tolerating so much harm with the lowest incomes and the least pleasure in order to follow their way to their aims?
These noble people traveled ups and downs of the rough road on their long way, undertook the exorbitant costs for the sake of their ideology, were deprived of countless conveniences, confronted various adversities, even to the point of losing their lives but were not touched in the least and continued their ideals. There are many historical examples and much evidence to witness that such great people were never determined to stop their endeavors a minute in spite of disagreeable things in their surroundings. They abandoned material benefits, endured their rivals’ taunts and sarcasms but took pride in the way they had chosen, and never surrendered.
Without doubt, these great learned men must have found an elixir in sciences, arts, thoughts or knowledge that have made them try to gain its alchemy in the conquering of lofty summits of victory. Of course, arriving at high positions, though difficult, is not specific of geniuses or exceptional persons. All human beings endowed with sound judgment, can attain great goals to have their names recorded in history by benefiting from perseverance, endeavor, devotion, resistance and enough patience in learning and experiencing, having determination and unbreakable decision.
What does cause the noble persons to proceed along the right course without losing their hopes or giving up their hardworking is their feeling of patriotism, conscientiousness, their interest in knowledge and science, being eager to learn and practice, and finally it is the spirit of rendering service to the people. They are so prudent in their manners that they may not deviate from the straight path along the arduous hard work of researching, not to get involved in materialistic purposes and, God forbid, to turn to accumulation of wealth, become over-ambitious of secular profits, become self-centered and the like! If some capital has been left to them from the past, they should not waste it in overindulgence, prodigality and extravagance.
However, the characteristics of noble great men such as competent writers, authors and compilers and the behavior of the gifted in history must always be appropriate examples for the wayfarers in this course. At the same time, we should admit that some factors have been effective in the decisions of a few persons: factors which occasionally have prevented them from real progress. And it is true that obtaining the best material possibilities has deviated persons who could have otherwise been credits of the society.
Now this doctrine, the mechanism of which was introduced above has been intertwined with my character since many years ago. Just from the prime of my life, I have fostered and nourished the desire of rendering service to my fellow citizens which could be a cause for the advancement of this nation. So, I started to investigate and do research in the field of economics and commerce as my favorite activity. I believe they are necessary to the infrastructure of all levels of social and individual promotion from which all material progresses have originated and on which they have been laid.
So far, I have tried to fulfill my obligation as an Iranian member of the society toward scientific development of this homeland. My duty in this area has been done in a variety of forms including compilation, translation, investigation and other scientific endeavors which have now crystallized into the shape of two comprehensive programs of World Trade and International Tourism. Dealing with them, I think, can place the country at a higher class of development. I hope by the assistance of Lord and with the cooperation of the active intelligent persons of this native land, we will put into practice these two programs on the scientific foundations we have laid for them by having compiled educational sources of research that help the thought to be performed.
It is hoped that the university students, scholars and researchers, in their persistence and perseverance, will be able to advance through the stages of the right path and ascend as far as the summit of success by making use of their humanitarian qualities so that they can experience the product of their spiritual struggle toward victory which will have resulted from doing worthwhile services to the society by way of paying their debts to the nation. Of course, we know that individuals are endowed with different talents of which they may not be aware. But if such potentials are discovered and not gone astray, they will, by all means, be successful. Guidance of the elders, perspectives of the wise in the family and relatives or among the experienced acquaintances will prove very effective for the youths to find out about their talents.
